The 2022 FIFA World Cup is into the knockout stage. The Group Stage finished on December 2nd, and there are now 16 teams left to battle it out in a single elimination bracket until a winner is crowned in the World Cup Finals on December 18th.
The United States National Team returned to the tournament after a disappointing qualifying campaign resulted in Team USA not participating in the 2018 tournament for the first time since 1986. The World Cup is the most bet on event worldwide every four years and I expect there to be a lot of new bettors interested in wagering on the tournament online.
The United States drew a group B that includes England, Wales and Iran. The USA finished second to England in this group, and will now face the Netherlands in the round of 16.
I’ve created this page to help Massachusetts and Connecticut residents understand how to quickly and easily place a bet on the World Cup online. On this page I’ve outlined our recommended betting site for USA residents, touched on the sports betting climate in both Massachusetts and Connecticut, and ended the page with a simple 3 step guide you can follow to bet on the World Cup.

World Cup Betting in Massachusetts and Connecticut
The United States Supreme Court ruled in May of 2018 that individual states can offer legal sports betting from this point forward.
Connecticut has moved forward with legal sports betting, allowing licensed online sportsbooks to start taking bets in the state in October of 2021. There are currently three regulated betting sites operating in Connecticut.
Massachusetts has also legalized sports betting, with online and in-person sportsbooks expected to launch in the state in early 2023.
At this time Massachusetts residents interested in betting on the World Cup must do so through an offshore betting site that is licensed and regulated outside of the United States. Bovada.lv and BetOnline.ag fall into this category.
**Connecticut residents also have the option to bet through offshore betting sites if they prefer them to the regulated sportsbooks offered in the state.
