The Green Bay Packers will be back on the road for the first time since week 2 when they take on the Atlanta Falcons at the Georgia Dome on Sunday afternoon. The game is scheduled to begin at 4:25 PM. ET.
Let’s get into the odds on this game and then I’ll give my favorite pick.

Falcons vs Packers Odds
- Green Bay Packers +3
- Atlanta Falcons -3
- Over/Under 53
My Pick
The Packers, who were expected to be one of the top contenders in the NFC this year haven’t looked very impressive so far, despite their 4-2 record. Quarterback Aaron Rodgers, who is considered one of the best in the NFL, hasn’t looked like his regular self over the past two seasons, and has struggled in the second half of games this year.
The Falcons started the season playing very well, and looked like one of the teams to beat in the NFC. Since they won four of their first five games, the Falcons have now lost two consecutive games, and look like the same old Falcons from last year.
The Falcons will have a good chance to end their skid against a Packers team dealing with some injuries.
Green Bay is not going to have running backs Eddie Lacy and James Starks for this game as they recover from injuries. The team is hoping that newly acquired running back Knile Davis has learned enough of their offense to be effective against the Falcons on Sunday.
The Packers are also going to have to figure out a way to stop Julio Jones, who has shredded a lot of defenses already, and should have another big game against Green Bay’s suspect secondary. If the Packers are unable to slow Jones down, they will have a difficult time winning this game.
With the injuries to Green Bay’s running backs, the Falcons will have to contend with Aaron Rodgers airing out the ball on Sunday, which is easier said than done.
Despite the improvements they have made on defense, the Falcons are still susceptible to big plays through the air, which isn’t good because Rodgers has a knack for exploiting bad defenses.
While Jordy Nelson still isn’t 100 percent recovered from his season ending injury a year ago, he is still very dangerous and has the speed to blow the top of the defense. Randall Cobb, who is Green Bay’s leading receiver, should also have a big game against Atlanta’s defense.
This is a big game for the Falcons and Packers because they are 4th and 5th respectively in the playoff standings. Since home field advantage is important to the two franchises, expect to see a close hard fought game.
Final Word…
The Falcons have been very good offensively, but their defense has failed them in the past couple of weeks. I expect them to put up a lot of points again, but don’t think their defense will stop the Packers so I’m picking Green Bay to cover the spread.
