Seattle Seahawks Analysis…
The Seahawks missed a golden opportunity to keep pace with the NFC West leading Los Angeles Rams, and saw their four-game winning streak snapped by the visiting Washington Redskins on Sunday. The loss puts the Seahawks one game behind the Rams, who play the Houston Texans this weekend, making this a big game for Seattle.
Despite the loss, the Seahawks aren’t down on themselves because they would have won the game if kicker Blair Walsh didn’t miss three field goals against Washington.
The Seahawks will now turn their attention to an injured Arizona team that is still very dangerous and alive in the NFC playoff picture.
Seattle’s defense will need to contain running back Adrian Peterson, who rushed for over 150 yards against the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday. If they can stop the run, they will force quarterback Drew Stanton to try and beat them with his arm.
Seattle’s offense had their lowest output since their season opener against the Green Bay Packers, expect Russell Wilson to get the offense back on track as they try to win their fifth game in their last six tries.
Arizona Cardinals Analysis…
After losing quarterback Carson Palmer for the season, the Cardinals were expected to fold, especially after their 33-0 loss to the Los Angeles Rams.
Instead, the Cardinals came out swinging against the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday, and won the game 20-10.
The Cardinals took a lot of pressure off backup quarterback Drew Stanton by feeding Adrian Peterson the ball. Peterson had a season high 37 carries, and finished with 159 yards against the 49ers.
This week, expect more of the same from the Cardinals against a Seattle team they have had success running on in the past. If they are able to get the ground game going, they will be able to take advantage of the play action opportunities it opens up.
With the Cardinals giving the 49ers a heavy dose of Peterson, Stanton was able to have a very effective day. He finished the game completing 15 of 30 passes for 201 yards, 2 touchdowns and 1 interception.
While he still needs to improve his accuracy, he did much better than he did against the Rams, when he completed 35 percent of his passes for 66 yards and 1 interception.
Final word…
The Seahawks will shut down the run and make life a living hell for Stanton in this game. Take the Seahawks -5.5.
