The 2015 US Open is going to be one to watch. There are a lot of mix reviews about the Chambers Bay course that will host the Major, with many players basically calling it a joke course, while others are excited to try to figure it out over the weekend. It’s definitely a very interesting links style course that will make for great viewing over the weekend.
Here’s a flyover of the front 9 so you can get a look at what to expect. It’s interesting to note there are no trees, a ton of sand and greens that you can barely distinguish between the fairway.

My Pick
My favourite pick of those golfers is Hideki Matsuyama at 28/1. He’s been playing very consistent golf this season and he’s a very strong player when it comes to greens in regulation, which could play a big part in this tournament. He’s also near the top of many of the off the tee categories and he’s a great scrambling player, which bodes well on this course. I think he could break through at this tournament.
Of the two big favourites I like Spieth better. He’s played more consistent golf this season than Rory and you know he will be focused on attempting the Grand Slam this season. His caddie also used to be a caddie on the course, which could play a bigger factor than many realize with all of the strange contours around the golf course.
Other Bets
I also noticed a big 4 vs the field bet that I’m definitely going to put some money down on:
- Big 4 (McIlroy, Spieth, Rose, Johnson) +180
- The Field -240
This course is such a wildcard that anything could happen this weekend. I think there is definitely a good chance of someone we may not expect winning this tournament. There’s also so many good golfers in the field including Mickelson, Fowler, Matsuyama, etc. that this seems like a no brainer to me. I’m taking the field.
I’m going to be glued to my computer watching the golf over this weekend and it’s a lot more fun with some golfers to root for.
