It’s the final tune-up tournament before we get into the real meat of the PGA season with The Masters taking place next week. The Shell Houston Open takes place at the Golf Club of Houston, which is a very similar style course to what we will see at Augusta National next week. For this reason the majority of top players do enjoy coming to Houston for this tournament because it’s not only a great event, but it provides some get practice opportunity for next weeks Grand Slam.
The course is a par 72 course with 4 par 5’s and a total course length of 7,457 yards. After reading several analysis articles it looks like golfers with a strong GIR (greens in regulation) percentage and decently long drives tend to do well at this tournament. This is a golf course, like Augusta National, where the cream rises to the top so players will have to be on their A-games to win this week.

Jordan Spieth, the big favourite in this tournament, finished 2nd here last year and we all know what happened at The Masters with Spieth leading from start to finish. He hasn’t been playing his best golf of late, but he’s still been hitting solid golf shots and if his putting game gets going he definitely should be among the leaders heading into Sunday.
JB Holmes won this tournament last year and also has a runner up placing in one of his 6 appearances. His game doesn’t seem like it should fit the course that well, but his results speak for themselves.
Bovada.lv is also offering Top 5 Finish, Top 10 Finish, Head to Head, First Round Leader and more bets to make on the Shell Houston Open.
