The 2017 edition of the Oscars, also known as the Academy Awards, takes place this month and we finally get to see who win the most coveted awards in film. The Oscars take place in Hollywood on February 26th and the who’s who of film stars will be in attendance.
The Golden Globes, BAFTA’s and every other film award ceremony is in the books, so we should already have a pretty good idea of who is going to be taking down the awards this year and we can use this information to make some informed bets.

Best Adapted Screenplay
Moonlight won the Best Motion Picture Drama at the Golden Globes beating out Lion, while Arrival and Hidden Figures were not even nominated. I saw Arrival and was not impressed. I think Moonlight takes this down with ease.
Best Original Screenplay
This is a very interesting category with a two horse race between La La Land and Manchester by the Sea. La La Land has absolutely cleaned up in award season and I have to give that film the edge here as well. It’s about as original as it gets when it comes to a screenplay, which plays into this category well.
Best Actor
Affleck beat out Washington at the Golden Globes and I expect him to do the same at the Oscars. If you want to go off the board Ryan Gosling at +1200 is an interesting option, especially considering Gosling was in a different category at the Golden Globes, where he won the best actor award for a musical or comedy.

Looking at the odds it seems like La La Land is expected to have close to a clean sweep at the Oscars. I wouldn’t bet against it for Best Picture either.
