The biggest race in the USA is only a few days away and I can feel the hype starting to build up for the horse racing season. The Kentucky Derby is the second most bet on sporting event in North America, second to only the Super Bowl.
This years Derby will take place this Saturday, May 4th at Churchill Downs Racetrack in Louisville, Kentucky.
A field of 20 horses is expected to run on Saturday, and with most of the these horses having only competed a few times, it will take some insightful handicapping to pick a winner.

My Pick
I’m on Fierceness to win this race. I think he’s the fastest horse in the field and if he has a good race he should finish first.
Fierceness is coming off a very impressive performance at the Florida Derby where he ran away from the field to win going away. He also won the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile last November, so he’s no stranger to winning big races. He did have a poor showing in February, but when betting on the winner of the Derby, I’m looking for the horse that is the fastest on their best day, and I believe that’s Fierceness this year.
